PICSPAM. AGAIN. AGAIN.

Nov. 13th, 2009 | 06:21 pm

Sigh. Here's another picspam, this time for my other wonderful friend and roommate, Allie, who did not buy me slippers but was upset that I got a picspam yesterday, and Stacy got one today, and she felt left out. OH WELL TALLY HO.

Allie, however, has a zillion different favourite men, so I couldn't focus on just one like mine, or specific favourites like Stacy. It would have been in several different parts that might taken decades.

So I narrowed it down a bit, to older, sexy actors. This was fun to do, I love looking at old Hollywood photos. OKAY BE WARNED LOTS OF PHOTOS AGAIN OMG THIRD POST OF RIDICULOUSLY SEXY MEN I CAN'T STOP

PICSPAM. AGAIN.

Nov. 13th, 2009 | 03:47 pm

So a couple weeks ago, my wonderful friend and room mate Stacy bought me a nice, comfy pair of slippers, which are currently on my feet. They are fluffy and warm and black, and I love them.

As a thank you, I offered to write her a fic, as I am too poor to actually buy a gift. As you may or may not know, I like writing her cracky things. I started it, got about two pages in, but then I had to write a paper or two for school, and then had to finish my story for my workshop.

That's all out of the way, so this morning I woke up, sat down with my computer, opened the file, and! Fail. I couldn't write ANYTHING. I reread what I wrote and I had no clue where I was going, what I was doing, if I even want to write that anymore or if I want to do something completely different and blahblahblah. FAILURE, is what I'm trying to say.

But I won't give up! It shall be written! However, to distract Stacy from my utter uselessness, I made her a picspam, because they're fun and also, hotties. Lots of pics and a couple gifs, so be warned, dial-up users!

Decided to do NaBloPoMo, which doesn't really flow off the tongue like
NaNoWriMo
does, but I can't even begin to endeavor on a novel when I fail at writing even a short story. Fail, I say.

Halloween weekend was fun, although I wish terribly I did more Halloween-y things. I did some the week before, but it's not the same :\ But it means the start of all the coming hols and that's always great!

Current obsession:
Being Human
. Just watched it all this weekend, and it's fantastic. I want to do filthy things to Mitchell, and I want to pull on George's ears. Season 2 is starting in January!

Plans for the evening: shower, watch
Carnivale
with Stacy and Allie (who is being introduced to its glory), and think some more on my short story I have due in two weeks and a paper due in four days. You'd think a paper on a topic I've been obsessed with on and off for nearly ten years (Harry Potter lol) would be easy to write, but alas.

Honestly, what am I supposed to do with my life, when I'm sitting on my bed, minding my own business, chatting with some friends, looking for something to read, and I look over. And I see this.

Seriously. How is a person to handle life when things this ridiculous and adorable are just a few inches from you, paws all folded and feet all gigantic?

BOO BOO. Supernatural tonight!

Everywhere.

In the mountains of Tibet, where a small sect of Jews gather in secret at their high temple. The surrounding villages think them Buddhist monks, because that is what the elders of the sect wish them to think. The outward circle of Rabbis act very much like monks. Some take vows of silence. Others, vows of extreme noise, where they must speak even in dreams. These Rabbis serve as teacher and servant to the inner circle, where Jewish warriors are being trained for the upcoming battle of God’s Chosen against the forces of darkness. I train there, my hair cut short, in robes of gray and white, learning to fight with stick and stone and the sides of my hands.

In New York City, at a party in my honor. My third novel has stayed on the New York Times Bestseller list for fifty-three weeks, and it is cause for celebration. I’m surrounded by the brightest minds of the age, by the celebrities I love and the writers I idolize. I am beautiful, my hair is long. They read excerpts from my book and throw cake and wine on me when I try to get them to stop, embarrassed by my own writing. In the crowd is someone I’ll meet later on in th night, when it’s quiet, and we’ll embrace like we’ve done a million nights over, and he’ll whisper words I wrote in my ear and it will sound fresh and wonderful.

Post 5 pictures you currently have on your computer that you feel best describe you. They don't actually have to be of you but can be anything you think represents you! No cheating and looking for pictures on the internet!

I couldn't think of a clever cut tag. )

hullo!

Aug. 7th, 2009 | 08:37 pm

It's time for my bi-monthly livejournal update! How about that?

Summer semester is over. Poetry was cake, of course. Astronomy was a pain in my ass. Probably didn't even pass. Normally I'm kind of sort of average at sciences, but a completely new one that I basically had to teach myself with a dumb textbook (where every other word was POSSIBLY or MAYBE or WE THINK because no one knows FUCK ALL about space) because the teacher sucked hard at, well, talking.

Sassy is doing fabulously! While she was once too skinny and small and apathetic about eating or activity in general, she is now so incredibly lively and fat! Her favourite activities are eating and trying to kill things.

some examples )

Last weekend we moved into a new house, which is lovely and a complete mess. The previous occupants were pigs. But it's big with wooden floors and a large backyard and my very own room, which is painted an ugly color so I'll have to fix that. I can't wait until Allie gets here to so we can decorate totally and it'll be ours.

house! )

This weekend I'm going home. More specifically, I'm riding the Greyhound to Orlando and then going to some concert with my brother because I have no choice, and then I'm spending Sunday locked in his house for the day and then getting a train back to Coral Springs on Monday.

Anyone who follows me on Twitter, expect massive updates of the "oh-god-oh-god-I'm-so-bored-and-terrified" variety.

And then I have a week of family and movies and vacation and then I'm back up here with new house and decorating and books and school. Fun times!

Alright, now to stall until new Psych comes on.

See you next time I have anything interesting to say!

:D!!!!!

Jul. 9th, 2009 | 01:10 pm

So stuff's going on. Started classes. Poetry's a breeze, more or less. Astronomy is death. Whatever.

Public Enemies was great. So was the show Carnivale.

Moving in a few weeks, into a big house! It's a lovely house, and we're going to make it look so nice. I can't wait!

BUT REALLY. MOST EXCITING NEWS:

Photobucket

THIS IS SASSY. SHE'S MY NEW KITTEN. I LOVE HER.

"Sassy" is short for Sasquatch, because she's a polydactyl and has a couple extra toes on each foot (one has seven!) She's a highway baby, according to the guy that found her. He said she couldn't move her back legs when he found her, but she's doing alot better now. She still lets it flop when when she lies down instead of folding it under like cats do, but she can walk, though not for very long. She's only six weeks and too skinny but we're feeding her lots and doing physical therapy on her leg (Stacy wants to get her swimming, which will be funny to watch lol). But she's very sweet and loves the dogs and is uncaring when the cats hiss at her and I love her haha. I can't wait until she meets Elvis and Scratchy!

brb going to play with her :)

KITTEHS.

I had this idea for a story that I will never write, sitting in Dunkin Donuts and eating a bagel.

It's about a world where there are only healthy things to eat. Everyone in Western civilization eats properly, because the foods that are good for you are the only foods available.

You go into a grocery store and find it full of produce and water. Wheat bread, tofu, soy line the aisles. Water is the most common drink of choice, with only low-fat orange juice or milk for anything otherwise.

Alcohol is only light, and distributed in limited doses.

There are no fast food restaurants, only salad bars.

No fast food restaurants means no fast food conglomerates. Farmers control the food industry now, and they are filthy rich with it. Not an inch of land is overlook or unused. McDonald's still exists, and it is the richest, most popular distributor. Ol' McDonald had a farm, ee-aye-ee-aye-oh.

Everyone is thin. Almost too thin, but a life of eating nothing but salad will do that to you. People are pretty much gaunt, and anyone who suddenly looks like they've packed on a few pounds is immediately regarded with suspicion, and are questioned by the Nutritionists.

Nutritionists are government employees, whose job it is to investigate the illegal consumption of fatty foods. Any evidence of extra fat or added calories is severely punished. People caught with the sweet contraband is sent to Weight Loss Camps, which are run not unlike labor camps, and they are not seen for a very long time. When they come out, they are usually wasted beyond belief, and cannot stomach the idea of any food, even the healthy foods.

The reasons the Nutritionists are necessary is because of an underground network of Bakers and Chefs, who peddle delicious confections to the daring souls who dream of a world of sugars and frosting, mouth-watering chocolate and pastas and fried chicken. People who tire of hearing their stomachs rumble, tired of eating food that tastes like air. These Bakers risk their lives cooking and creating such delicacies and treats to be consumed by the food-oppressed civilians of the world.

The story would start like this:

"It was a pleasure to nom."

Why you should care

Jun. 17th, 2009 | 12:46 am

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.

They are not the enemy. They are a people whose election has been stolen. For the first time in a long time, a voice for change struck the youth of Iran, just as it did for many people in the United States only seven months ago. Hossein Mousavi gained the support of millions of people in Iran as a Presidential candidate. He stands for progressiveness. He supports good relations with the West, and the rest of the world. He is supported with fervor as he challenges the oppressive regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

On Friday, millions of people waited for hours in line to vote in Iran's Presidential election. Later that night, as votes came in, Mousavi was alerted that he was winning by a two-thirds margin. Then there was a change. Suddenly, it was Ahmadinejad who had 68% of the vote - in areas which have been firmly against his political party, he overwhelmingly won. Within three hours, millions of votes were supposedly counted - the victor was Ahmadinejad. Immediately fraud was suspected - there was no way he could have won by this great a margin with such oppposition. Since then, reports have been coming in of burned ballots, or in some cases numbers being given without any being counted at all. None of this is confirmed, but what happened next seems to do the trick.

The people of Iran took the streets and rooftops. They shout "Death to the dictator" and "Allah o akbar." They join together to protest. Peacefully. The police attack some, but they stay strong. Riots happen, and the shouting continues all night. Text messaging was disabled, as was satellite, and websites which can spread information such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and the BBC are blocked in the country. At five in the morning, Arabic speaking soldiers (the people of Iran speak Farsi) stormed a university in the capital city of Tehran. While sleeping in their dormitories, five students were killed. Others were wounded. These soldiers are thought to have been brought in by Ahmadinejad from Lebanon. Today, 192 of the university's faculty have resigned in protest.

Mousavi requested that the government allow a peaceful rally to occur this morning - the request was denied. Many thought that it would not happen. Nevertheless, first a few thousand people showed up in the streets of Tehran. At this point, it is estimated that 1 to 2 million people were there. Mousavi spoke on the top of a car. The police stood by. For a few hours, everything was peaceful. Right now, the same cannot be said. Reports of injuries, shootings, and killings are flooding the internet. Twitter has been an invaluable source - those in Iran who still know how to access it are updating regularly with picture evidence. People are being brutally beaten. Tonight will be another night without rest for so many in Iran no older than I am. Tonight there is a Green Revolution.

sand and surf

Jun. 14th, 2009 | 07:37 pm

beach with my mum and it almost rained several times but it didn't we had the sun behind clouds but i inexplicably got tan anyway and we talked about the most famous beatles song and our own favourites and when she hadn't heard of one of mine i played it for her and she listened and i rested on the sand and listened and then she knew and we also talked about bob dylan and not bob dylan and horrible van morrison concerts and seeing bruce springsteen from a distance
we went to aruba and ate shrimp and Bimini bread like Bimini Bay that was sticky and sweet and swatting away mosquitoes and the eyes of drunken men and we sat in silence and we sat and made up a plan for before i go far away to come to the beach at night and sleep and wake up in the morning and breathe morning beach air and stay in the sun until we melt and swim in the water until we're perfect and we're going to do it we are
then we trespassed under the boardwalk where people had drawn graffiti of a hammer and sickle and the words hi i'm emily and county boy and we laughed at men hunting for nickels and tried to brush away the sand in the hollows of our necks and the backs of our spine but it clung like the sweetness of Bimini bread and my mum told me her memory is shot and she can't remember beached whales and peculiar spanish pretzelmen and she asked me what i am supposed to do about that and i said nothing but in my head i thought just don't forget me and i'll remember the rest
